About the school
A law school shaped by heritage and responsibility.
Philippine Law School stands for disciplined study, legal formation, and preparation for service in the profession.
School overview
A focused path toward the practice of law.
The school provides a serious academic environment for students who want to understand law as both a profession and a public trust.
Coursework, recitation, research, and review are presented as part of one formation journey: learning to read carefully, reason clearly, speak responsibly, and act with integrity.
Founders and history
The school's beginning belongs to a small group of legal educators and institution builders.
The recovered PHILLAW historical write-up identifies Don Simeon and Don Ricardo Conlu Lacson as the brothers who founded Philippine Law School in 1915, with the collaboration of Don Mariano Jhocson, founder of National University.
Its early home was in Intramuros, Manila. The same historical account notes that Philippine Law School previously served as the College of Law of National University in Sampaloc, Manila.
